Alone, under a bridge, in one night, Jamal, a young Syrian refugee, meets people, that is some of what the title will give us.

Based on many real stories, this strong testimony will have an open ending with a dialogue between the writer and the director of the play, as a “metatheatre”, witch, with self-derisive humour, debate the fate of their character… The future of the Syrian people ?

Under the bridge is also the story of a meeting that joined Amre Sawah and Abdulrahman Khallouf as students in the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus Syria back in the late 90s. After leaving Syria first to Lebanon Amre decides to move to France. Choosing to settle down in Bordeaux, where his friend Abdulrahman lives.

After their first play in Bordeaux that Abdulrhaman directed and Amre wrote Family Secret, they work together on their second project Under the bridge, a powerful and partly autobiographical play about the conditions of the refugees in France, and exile.

Meeting with Sylvie Violan, offered them the opportunity to produce their new work under Festival International des Arts of Bordeaux Métropole (FAB) with the support of (Onda) the Office National de Diffusion Artistique.

This new work saw the light after a residency at Carré-Colonnes in Blanquefort during autumn 2016. Under the Bridge was presented for three days in first addition of FAB festival in October 2016, finding immediate success with both public and professionals.
