Richard Maxwell is an essential figure in experimental theatre, and with Paradiso he concludes his triptych inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy. An empty space, a car, a robot, three actors. Three stories, with one evoking the death of the director’s mother, and reflecting in a highly original story the last days in the life of a woman, as told by her son. Featuring pantomime sequences in the form of human sculptures, the performers show Maxwell’s paradise as a bigger, vaster space than life.
